
North Brunswick Township in New Jersey celebrated a “lively” India Independence Day on August 10, 2024, the theme of which this year was “Shramev Jayate” – Victory comes with hard work.
The program started with the welcome address by Chairperson Rajeev Shrivastava followed by a prayer recital conducted by Kuldeep Uppal, a press release from the organization said.

The US Pledge of Allegiance was observed followed by a flag hoisting ceremony with special guests on the stage including – Joe Danielsen (Assemblyman NJ), Francis M. Womack (Mayor North Brunswick), Mary Hutchinson (President North Brunswick Council), Rajesh Mehta (Councilman), and Govind Rajan (CEO Agraj Seva Kendra).
The national anthems of US and India were sung as well as the well-loved patriotic song Vande Mataram.
Special guests were felicited on stage and gave speeches, and emcees conducted the program which began with dance performances and other cultural items.

The children from Elementary, Middle, and High School levels performed on stage. Others who performed included a group from a Classical Dance School, adult performers, instrumental bands, as well as speeches from students.
A skit was staged by students of all levels showcasing personalities who were recognized for their hard work based on the theme Shramev Jayate.
