The Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago, unanimously nominated Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan, and members of a new board at the annual board meeting held on the auspicious festival of Diwali Oct. 27, at ThumKa Restaurant, Hoffman Estates, IL.

The event was presided by Founder President Sunil Shah, Founder & Past President Onkar Sangha, current President Ninad Daftari, and founding members Mukesh Shah and Neil Khot.
President Elect Gurmeet Singh Dhalwan will spearhead the team for the year 2020 with the help of Executive Vice Presidents Hitesh Gandhi and Dr Kamal Patel along with the board which includes Vice Presidents Shital Daftari, Altaf Bukhari, Chetan Patel, Jatinder Bedi and Vinita Gulabani. Other members are Secretary Abir Maru, Treasurer Vaishal Talati, Cultural Secretary Hema Shastri, Joint Treasurer Ila Patel Chaudhari, Joint Secretary Ashwani Mahajan, and Director Vibha Rajput. The new Directors Pratibha Jairath, Anu Malhotra, Richa Chand,Sonia Luther, Varsha Visal, Mukesh Shah, Hitesh Patel, Vikram Seth and Tanvi Dhillon are also part of the board.

Sunil Shah requested the participation of all the members for the next event of FIA, Feed My Starving Children, an initiative during Thanksgiving holidays on Nov. 24, from 3 pm to 5 pm at Renaissance Convention Center.
The FIA will also celebrate India’s 71st Republic Day on Jan. 25, 2020, along with a Health Fair and Scholarship Drive. Other scheduled events include Indian Heritage Night with Windy City Bulls Feb. 23, 2020, at Sears Center & Festival of Colors ( Holi ) in March.
Dhalwan, in his speech, assured those present he would work hard to take the organization to new heights with events planned for 2020, working with the support of the Advisory Board Members Syed Hussaini (WinTrust Bank), Manish Gandhi (Power Plant Services), Brij Sharma (Power Volt), Asha Oroskar(Orochem), Smita Shah (Direct Floors), Pradeep Shukla (CPA), Neal Patel(MedStar), Jasbir Suga (Suga Builders & Construction ) and Keerthi Reevori.

Founding member’s Sunny Kular, Rita Singh & Dhitu Bhagwakar could not attend the meeting.
The FIA Chicago plans to take on projects like Job Fair, Entrepreneurship Camps and Youth Leadership Development Skill Camps, a press release from the organization said.
FIA Chicago was founded to bring cultural awareness to the Chicagoland area and has grown leaps and bounds, the organization claims, hosting several events through the year for the well being and betterment of the community.
