Buddha Jayanti celebrated in New Jersey

The Indian Consulate in New York commemorated Buddha Jayanti, also known as Vesak, at the Buddhist Vihara & Meditation Center in New Jersey, in partnership with the Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America and the Bihar Foundation. The Consulate posted  photos and video, as well as a write-up about the event on X May 20, 2024.

The ceremony featured a guided meditation walk led by the the Priest of Buddhist Vihara around the Samadhi Buddha Statue, followed by traditional prayer chanting. The event honored the life and teachings of the Lord Buddha, whose profound wisdom continues to guide humanity across millennia, the Consulate said in its post.
