More than 6,200 people attended Shree Umiya Mataji 2022 Navratri Garba with Kinjal Dave hosted by Shree Umiya Dham Chicago Midwest (SUDCM) on Saturday, September 17, at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center.
The highly decorated Mataji Palki had pride of place in the center of the venue encircled by an elaborate mandap.
From start to finish, it was well organized, beginning with the registration and online pickup of tickets, to hand-bands, moving attendees in an organized manner into the hall, etc. The show was sold out, according to a press release from Asian Media USA.
The Deep Pragatya or lamplighting ceremony was attended by Mafat Patel, Himanshu Modi, Mitha Patel, Jayanti Patel, Bhavic Patel, Harmil Patel, Hari Patel, Dahya Prajapati, Praful Rami, along with SUDCM Chairman Chhotalal Patel.
Kinjal Dave and her team took the stage to what organizers described as the “largest Indian community crowd in the history of Chicago.” People of all ages were present to hear and dance to the “Gujarati Daughter’s” wonderful voice in two tali (beats), three tali, ras garba, sanedo and other types of songs, keeping people on the floor much of the night.
People also shopped at the booths in the hall.
A Lucky Draw of the latest IPhone 14, collected over $2,600. A Maha Aarti by Mitha Patel and Jayanti Patel and family, along with energetic songs and music, concluded the event.
