Shree Siddhivinayak Temple of Toms River, New Jersey, hosted the popular tri-state DHUN Musical Group, USA, for a fundraising concert named Shaam-e-DHUN on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
The Dhun concert at the temple has been an annual event for the past several years and is much awaited by the devotees, volunteers and the local community groups.
In a press release, organizers called it a “huge success” attended by several hundred people. The temple premises were lit up with all the activities and live performances of singers and musicians of the Dhun Musical Group.
The temple committee and volunteers led by the chairman Dr. Avinash Gupta, assisted by co-chairman Dr Bamkim Shah, Pravin Parekh, Nitaben Patel and several other volunteers, were the main organizers.
“Popular DHUN host Anubha Raj, with newly introduced host Vasanti Anand, provided expert commentary with a very musical touch and ensured that the audience was thoroughly engaged,” organizers said in the press release.
The guest of honor was Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold, who connected virtually with the gathering.
DHUN’s founder Rajeev Singh also performed songs, and introduced emerging talented singers to the audience, to showcase their skills.
Singh believes strongly that bringing quality entertainment by local talent is a key mantra to success, the press release said.
The performers were: Vocalists – Shilpi Kundu, Sandeep Singh, Rajib Sarkar, Amrisha Singh, Sudhaker Raj, Bhavisha Patel, Rajani Mishra and Vasanti Anand. Musicians- Sekhar Das, Saikat Chatterjee, Tapan Modak and Michael Peris.
Bhavisha Patel also did a garba number for the temple devotees. Several community leaders including Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) President Anurag Kumar, Vice President Sanjeev Singh and committee member Vandana Kumar, attended.
ITV Gold and Parikh WorldWide Media were among key media partners along with TV Asia. The event was also supported by several organizations including BJANA, IFMP, BITSAANA, Indian Cultural and Community Center, Light Bridge Academy (South Brunswick, NJ), Lions club, and Xpress Financial Mortgage Corp.
