
India’s new Consul General in New York Binaya Srikant Pradhan, visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or The MET as it is affectionately called, to see the exhibition, “Indian Skies: The Howard Hodgkin Collection of Indian Court Paintings.”
The exhibition features more than120 masterpieces spanning Mughal, Deccan, Rajput, and Pahari courts.

The Consul General, in his speech Feb. 5, referred to India’s rich tradition of paintings and mentioned that this exhibition gives the visitors a chance to closely understand Indian culture and values. The Exhibit vividly captures India’s diverse landscapes, narratives, and emotive expressions. A journey through time, seasons, and royal courts, India in New York, the Consulate’s Twitter account said.

Director of The MET, Max Hollein commented that the collection was interwoven with the artist’s life—and his experiences in India and his relationships with scholars and artists of Indian art.
