Naperville, IL – June 5, 2025,Indian Community Outreach (ICO) announced that it will significantly scale back its 2025 India Day celebrations due to new public safety mandates issued by the City of Naperville.

While the India Day Parade will still take place on Sunday, August 10 at 11:00 AM, starting from Naperville Central High School, the Rotary Hill cultural fair and evening concert have been canceled. These portions of the celebration have historically drawn tens of thousands of attendees.

“This difficult decision was made after the city introduced new security requirements, including full park fencing, metal detectors, a clear bag policy, and increased staffing—pushing overall costs over $150,000,” said Krishna Bansal, Chairman of ICO. “As a nonprofit with limited funding, we simply cannot afford these new expenses.”

ICO also noted that space available for sponsors has been reduced, further limiting fundraising potential. Despite exploring scaled-back alternatives, the group determined that continuing the full event this year would pose too great a financial risk.

India Day has been a signature cultural event in Naperville for the past decade, showcasing Indian heritage while boosting local businesses and community pride.

ICO is exploring the possibility of hosting an alternative cultural program later this year and plans to return with full celebrations in 2026.
