
The Federation of Indian Associations-Chicago (FIA-Chicago) and the Indian American Cultural Association (IACA) came together to make it an unforgettable Thanksgiving for the children and families of GiGi’s Playhouse in Aurora, IL on Nov 27, 2024.

GiGi’s Playhouse, a center for children and adults with Down syndrome, provides free, transformative programs that foster confidence, skills, and independence, a press release from organizers said.
The FIA-IACA Toy and Food Drive brought together volunteers, leaders, and children for an evening of shared laughter and heartfelt moments. The cheerful sounds of children engaging in games and activities resonated throughout the room.

Among those who led the initiative were FIA Founder and Chairman Sunil Shah, IACA President Vinita Gulabani, and FIA President Pratibha Jairath. They were joined by Exec. VP Elect Sonia Luther, Joint Secretary Falguni Sukhadia, Director Hemendra Shah, and from IACA by Executive Board representative Kamlesh Kapoor in the effort.

Behind the scenes, IACA Secretary Shanu Sinha played an indispensable role, organizers said, coordinating with GiGi’s Playhouse to ensure every aspect of the event was carefully planned, as it was high security facility.
Exec. VP Elect (FIA-Chicago) Chandini Duvvuri’s efforts in purchasing toys from various stores, along with Shanu Sinha’s collection and sourcing of additional food items, came together to make it a successful endeavor.
