S.S. Rajamouli had designed Bahubali in two parts, not even imagining its global impact in 2015 (Bahubali—The Beginning) and 2017 (Bahubali 2—The Conclusion). But after its phenomenal success, he decided that RRR will be made as a pan-Indian movie, featuring Ram Charan and NTR Jr. with Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in crucial roles.
But while he had largely designed Bahubali for home (read Telugu) audiences and it got pan-Indian endorsement, RRR was meant for all of India but got accolades, acclaims and awards, including the Golden Globe and Oscar, on global platforms!
And now, the man who has never given a flop among 12 feature films as director since Student No. 1 (2001) and won multiple National, state and private awards, is planning a sequel, hitherto never thought of, with Ram Charan and NTR Jr. again. His films have made over Rs. 4000 crore globally at the box-office.
The film’s writer and Rajamouli’s father, K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, told a news channel, as reported by Times News Network. “We want to transform the sequel into a Hollywood movie. It will be mounted on an enormous scale.” The magnitude will be greater and the RRR storyline may not be continued. Part 2 might be based on another chapter from pre-Independent India, and, in fact, Rajamouli may only supervise the making of the new film if another director is at the helm.
And like all of Rajamouli’s work, the constant will be his cousin, M.M. Keeravani, for the music.
Obviously, expectations will not be just sky-high but beyond. And if Rajamouli has planned to go to Hollywood, who knows where the film will reach this time?
