The Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago, (FIA), announced details for the ’10th Anniversary Awards Gala Night and India’s 73rd Independence Day’ celebration the organization plans to hold in August.

Founding President Sunil Shah, Founder, Onkar Sangha, President Ninad Daftari and all the board members and executive members hosted a kickoff event May 19, as a curtain raiser to announce that the mega event would he held August 16th at The Meadows Club, Rolling Meadows, IL, a press release from FIA said. Some of the proceeds from the event would be donated to charities Akshay Patra and Pratham, Sunil Shah told Desi Talk via email.

India’s Consul General in Chicago Sudhakar Dalela attended the event. Rita Shah sang an inspirational song. Executive Vice President Hitesh Gandhi and Vice President Dr. Kamal Patel introduced the distinguished guests that included, Gopal Lamalani, Mayor, Village of Oakbrook, Mayor Tom Dailly, Village of Schaumburg. Deepak Kant Vyas, CEO Redberri Corporation, Anil and Asha Oroskar of Orochem, Brij Sharma of Powervolt and many more.
Ninad Daftari talked about events hosted by FIA in the past that included both community events as well as philanthropic projects.

The nominations categories were announced by Neil Khot along with the details about the nominations process. The wide span of nominations categories aims at inviting nominations from people from all walks of life. Nominations will be accepted at www.fia-il.org and the results will be announced Aug. 16.

Individuals from various walks of life who have excelled in their respective fields, will be recognized, Sunil Shah explained regarding the vision behind the Gala Awards night.
Consul General Dalela complimented FIA for work it has done in the past and wished the best for upcoming projects.
Several dance groups performed at the kick-off event including Alokita Dhar and Sindhu Naidu, Diya Talati and Me Marathi Group.
