Edison Mayor and Muslim Community Announce Third Annual Eid Festival

Community Celebration Returns to Papaianni Park on June 21 with Cultural Festivities and Family Fun

Edison, NJ — Mayor Sam Joshi, in proud collaboration with Masjid Al-Wali, Muslim Center of Middlesex County (MCMC), Muslim Community of New Jersey (MCNJ), and the Edison Muslim Community Center (EMCC), is thrilled to announce the Third Annual Eid Festival, taking place on Friday, June 21st from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Papaianni Park in Edison, NJ. In case of inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for June 28th.

This free and open-to-the-public event celebrates the joyous occasion of Eid with a vibrant display of cultural appreciation, entertainment, and community togetherness. Drawing over 10,000 attendees in 2024, this year’s festival promises to be even bigger and more exciting.

Highlights of the festival include:
– A lively outdoor bazaar featuring local vendors
– A wide array of delicious halal food options
– Stage performances showcasing diverse talents
– A Kids Zone complete with inflatables, face painting, henna, and more

Mayor Sam Joshi emphasized the significance of the event, stating,
“Edison’s Eid Festival has become a hallmark of cultural celebration and unity in our town. This festival not only honors the traditions of our Muslim community but also brings together people of all backgrounds in the spirit of joy and inclusivity. We are proud to host this tradition once again and invite everyone to join in.”

The Eid Festival serves as a testament to Edison’s rich diversity and dedication to fostering harmony and shared celebration. Organized in partnership with four of the area’s most active and respected Muslim organizations—Masjid Al-Wali, MCMC, MCNJ, and EMCC—the event reflects a united effort to build bridges and celebrate community spirit.

In 2024, residents of Edison Township came together at Lake Papaianni to mark the culmination of Ramadan with the township’s second annual Eid Festival. The park buzzed with festivities as families enjoyed traditional foods, entertainment, and cultural exchanges. The event, proudly presented by Mayor Sam Joshi and the Edison Council, saw collaboration from numerous community organizations. The festival also featured special guest Olympic fencer and author Ibtihaj Muhammad. Council President Nish Patel expressed gratitude for the diverse turnout, emphasizing the significance of such celebrations in promoting unity and understanding among different cultures and backgrounds.
