
Approximately 120 women physicians gathered in a celebration of each other’s accomplishments, culture, and excellence at the 14th Annual Jersey Women Physician Gala, held at Nahar’s Nest on June 21st’ 2025.
Dr Bharti Deka and Dr Sudha Nahar with their team organized this year’s event, a press release said. The purpose and vision are to promote DEI diversity, equality and inclusion, facilitate projects that are meaningful and impactful for women physician like work life balance, leadership roles and improve networking for better patient care, organizers said.
A Ganesh Vandana jumpstarted the event. Dr Bhavi Patel and Dr Amina Saquib emceed the event where different groups of physicians performed Bollywood, Punjabi and Chinese dances. Opera singer Dr Sydelle Ross performed a moving song which she said she used to comfort her dying patients in palliative care.
Volunteer and Distinguished service awards were given to Dr Charletta Ayers and Dr. Jinghui Xie.
Among the numerous well-known physicians who attended the event were Dr. Dolly Abraham, Dr. Rachna Kulkarni, Dr, Patricia Whittley, Dr Gloria Bachman, Dr, Tania Gosh, Dr Payal Parikh, Dr Rekha Gohel, Dr. Chitra Kumar, Dr. Rizwana Khan, Dr. Kusum Punjabi, Dr. Sunita Kanumury, Dr Narinder Dhillon , Dr. Sunita Polepalle, Dr. Smita Lodha and Dr. Sameera Maganti.
The event concluded with a Bolly Zumba led by Dr Deep Garg, a networking game and a vote of thanks. Dr Nahar emphasized that its not just a celebration but a testament to the collective strength of the group and their goal is to create an environment where every woman physician feels valued and empowered to make a difference.
