Indian Consulate in NY celebrates Baisakhi

The Indian Consulate in New York celebrated Baisakhi on April 11, 2025. The news outlet Indian Panorama collaborated in hosting the event. The Consulate described it as “a joyous celebration honoring the spirit of Baisakhi and Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.”

Posting an account about the event on X, the Indian Consulate said the evening began with a “soulful” Shabad and ended with a “lively” Bhangra performance. Apart from community leaders, there were elected officials including New York State Assemblyman Ed Braunstein, and North Hempstead Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava.

The Consul General of Indian in New York Binaya Srikanta Pradhan highlighted the teachings of Sikh gurus who emphasized qualities of compassion, harmony, service, and equality. CG Pradhan also recognized the Punjabi community’s contributions to India’s nation-building, the X post noted.

Gurcharanjit Singh Lamba, a scholar and author, reflected on the founding of the Khalsa. Attorney Ravi Batra shared his moving experience at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple).
